From the Japan House São Paulo

Ever since its inauguration, Japan House São Paulo has been serving as a window to contemporary Japanese culture, dedicated to sharing some of the wonderful aspects of Japan: a society built on a foundation of kindness, perseverance, and mutual support; a nation where creativity and boldness coexist harmoniously within its beautiful traditions; a nation that has deep respect for nature and its cycles; of silence and sound, of calm and vibrance, of light and shadow. 

Having upheld these values through our activities, it was a great honor for us at the Japan House São Paulo to be able to host this exhibition organized by the Window Research Institute. Through the exhibition that featured windows of artisanal spaces, windows of contemporary houses, refined architecture and concepts, humorous window-themed manga, we were able to share the fruits of the institute’s research activities from the past decade both physically and virtually with people in Brazil and beyond. 

The side activities program that was developed during the exhibition contributed to furthering the knowledge from the general public. As an example of it, Japan House São Paulo organized a talk between researchers in Brazil and Japan, stimulating the exchange of ideas between these two countries. We believe it was a unique experience.
